An American Abroad

Writing & Editing

Though this blog focuses on my travels and related matters, I do write about other topics and in other genres. This page provides links to those works.

I review texts written by businesses and individuals and edit them for English fluency, accuracy, idiom, word choice and style. These texts include résumés and CVs, cover letters, business correspondence and presentations, trade articles, speeches, college and graduate school admission essays, and advertising materials. Good editing makes the difference between nonstandard, awkward communication and a presentation that conveys a professional, competent image.

I’ve written for various publications, including the Toledo Blade, the Village Voice of Ottawa Hills, TEFLJobsWorld.com, Shane English Yuxi, and others.

I’m always looking for new writing assignments. Contact me for rates and more information.

I’ve also written parody lyrics that have been turned into music videos.

This is a W.S. Gilbert-inspired satire on the four-times-married Kentucky county clerk who went to jail because God told her not to issue marriage licenses.

This is a parody of Ya Got Trouble from The Music Man that imagines Donald Trump as a traveling con man.
