Profile
I’m an experienced teacher and academic administrator who specializes in English instruction and tutoring. I have taught at the college, high school, junior high and elementary school levels and have managed a college department of more than 100 part-time tutors. I have also developed a private consultancy focused on assisting adult business professionals from outside the US with English language acquisition, accent reduction, and cultural competency. I’m widely-traveled, intellectually curious, and well-read. I take a strong cosmopolitan interest in many cultures. |
Teaching Philosophy
1. Teaching should be assessed primarily by how well the weakest students learn. 2. Good teaching connects disciplines to each other and to the students’ experiences. 3. Learning should be enjoyable for students and teachers. 4. New educational technology is promising, but should be adopted cautiously. |
