The Premises
The Job
The couple who lived in this northwest Ohio home used to live in New York City and work in the theater. Their house was filled with irreplaceable paintings and sculptures, many by artists the couple knew personally. When they wanted to go and visit their children, they left me in charge of their home and their two cats, Bogey and Bacall. Part of what I was doing was acting as a kind of museum guard: making sure my presence was very noticeable and ensuring that all the locks and alarms were set appropriately. The cats were quirky but easy to care for. I loved getting up in the morning, walking downstairs to make coffee, and wandering through what felt like an art gallery on my way to the kitchen. (This photo was taken when the house was vacant and under renovation; it looked a lot better when I was there.)
